Advocacy

The United Methodist Church has a longstanding commitment to advocating for a just and peaceful world. The Social Principles of The United Methodist Church provide a guide for reflection and action related to some of the challenging struggles of the human family. How do we care for God's creation? What is our role in relationship to others who do not share our views? How do we engage the political power systems in the world to work for justice? How do we include and care for all of God's children?

The United Methodist Church does not present binding requirements for stances on social issues, but seeks to engage the church in a conversation of deep listening across differences. We work together to support prophetic ministry that speaks truth to power, and are committed to helping equip people for meaningful social action.

On this site you'll find some information on our conference's peace with justice ministries. More information about social action networks and the shared advocacy ministries of The United Methodist Church can be found at the General Board of Church and Society web site.

We invite you to enter the dialogue and join with others in witnessing to the good news of a world transformed through God's vision of justice and peace.
